Original Fiction

Duality

From the battlefields of Portugal, to the ballrooms of Paris and London, Europe in the early nineteenth century sets the stage for the meeting of two very different men.

Deveril Sifton had everything a young man could want: a promising military career, a supportive family, and a life with direction. Then, on one fateful day in the heat of battle, he loses sight of everything that had defined himself. And it isn't until he meets an enigmatic stranger who stood as an untouchable prize in a taboo auction that he realizes what he has been missing his entire existence.

As a spy for Napoleon, Noel Saint-Honoré had always had a purpose. Nothing could stop him from driving out the English and bringing glory to France. But then, in the least likeliest of places, he meets Deveril, a British officer who makes him re-evaluate everything he has stood for.

A man without purpose, and a man with too much. A man who has lost his identity, and one who has too many ... Duality follows the clash of two strong-willed men as they struggle to find themselves - and each other - during a time of war and revolution.

About Duality
Duality was written for Nanowrimo (November 2005), and although I didn't make the 50,000 word requirement, I got halfway there with a little over 25,000. Now, for me, that's achieving a small goal because I'm not exactly the fastest of writers (due in part to my complete laziness). I had originally intended this to be a historical action/romance of a heterosexual couple, but of course, as with all things I tend to write, it ended up being a homosexual historical action/romance.
